About GPA Calculator

GPA Calculator is a practical tool for high school and college students who want to estimate a semester or cumulative GPA. Add each course's letter grade, credit hours, and level to see unweighted and weighted results update immediately. You can also enter an earlier cumulative GPA and completed credits to estimate how a new term changes the combined result.

The calculator uses a 4.0 letter-grade scale: A+ and A are 4.00 by default, A- is 3.70, and the values continue through F at 0.00. An optional setting makes A+ worth 4.33. For its weighted result, the tool adds 0.50 to non-failing Honors grades and 1.00 to non-failing AP, IB, or dual-enrollment grades. Regular courses receive no bonus, and F receives no weighting bonus. Schools use different scales and policies, so these settings may not match every transcript.

Each grade-point value is multiplied by its course credits. The products are added and divided by the total included credits, with the final result rounded to two decimal places. For a closer look at the arithmetic, read how to calculate GPA. You can also review our guides to weighted and unweighted GPA and the complete GPA scale used by the tool.

Everything runs in your browser. No account is required, and the grades you enter are not saved or sent by the calculator. Results are estimates for planning and checking your own math. Your school's registrar and official academic records are authoritative, especially for repeated courses, transfer credit, pass/fail work, and other policies that differ among schools.

Clear, accurate explanations matter to us. If you find a calculation problem, unclear wording, or a school scale that the calculator does not support, corrections are welcome through the contact page.
